Day-Long Road Trips Near Okotoks

Okotoks, AB really is a nice place to live, as it’s close enough to Calgary, AB to reap the benefits of a bigger city, but it’s far enough away to avoid a lot of the hustle and bustle of a significantly more urban area. Still, its prime location leaves plenty of opportunities for Okotoks Chevrolet Buick GMC customers to make the most of their comfortable and spacious SUVs and sedans in taking day trips to some of the loveliest and most entertaining attractions in Southern Alberta.

Knowing that, here are a few of our suggestions for quick road trips that can help our customers make the most of a weekend:

Nanton’s Antiques – In the heart of Nanton, just a little over a half hour south of Okotoks, there are several antique stories that people love to frequent. The Antique Walk includes several stores with plenty to see, making the journey worth it even if you don’t spend a dime.

Alberta Wine Country – There are a number of great wineries and distilleries within reasonable driving distance from Okotoks, including the Eau Claire Distillery, Chinook Arch, and Spirit Hills. One could easily make a day of touring the facilities and enjoying the spirits, though as always, we suggest safe driving here at Okotoks Chevrolet Buick GMC, which means getting a designated driver for this particular day trip.

Torrington Gopher Hole Museum – While this one requires a little longer drive north on Highway 2, the trip is totally worth the odd returns. The building features a number of taxidermied gophers wearing little clothes and staged in little scenes. It’s definitely whimsical and the pictures alone are worth the trip, and it only costs $2 to get in.

Many think a car dealership’s job is just selling new vehicles or Chevrolet parts, but we have great travel advice, too. We want drivers to make the most of their GM automobiles, and these day trips certainly could help you do that!
