Make Your 2015 Colorado A True Off-Roader With Icon’s New Adjustable Suspension Kits

General Motors tested the waters with their 2015 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 concept, gauging consumer interest for an off-road ready version of Chevy’s new mid-size pickup. We have yet to hear if they plan to put the concept into production, but Icon Vehicle Dynamics new suspension package for the Colorado and GMC Canyon might just be an amiable alternative to the factory off-road package.

The range-topping suspension kit for the Colorado and Canyon from Icon is their $4,200 Stage 5 package, which will add 2.5″ remote reservoir coilover shocks with compression damping control valves (just like on the ZR2 concept), FK tie rod end bearings and tubular uniball supports. This will increase wheel travel by over 25% and will allow the height to be adjusted from 1.75″ to 3″. Jalopnik says Icons kits will all allow for 8” wide wheels with 5.25” of backspace to be installed and 32” by 11” tires without cutting the tires.

A Stage 1 kit is also offered by Icon for just $1,800 and gets rid of the adjustable components and remote reservoirs, adding only the shocks and coilovers. From there Stage 2, 3 and 4 kits are offered, which incrementally add more content such as the tubular control arms, remote reservoir shocks and more.

With the upcoming 2.8-liter diesel Duramax four-cylinder and an aftermarket suspension kit from Icon, you could have yourself a very capable Colorado or Canyon without breaking the bank. Check out the systems on Icon’s site for additional information.
